Famous Crock Pot Roast Recipe
I know that pot roast isn’t exactly something that gets heralded as something new, interesting or trendy. In fact the only time it’s ever been mentioned in popular culture is probably in holiday movies. More specifically, The Grinch. I can still remember hearing about what an honor it was to ‘carve the roast beast’. Even though it’s not something that’s trending on Facebook it’s still a mainstay when the temperatures drop. I enjoy pot roast. It’s kind of one of my favorite dishes regardless of the season. I’ve had it for birthday dinner on countless occasions. I always loved it when I was young. Last week I was late at work several days, and I rediscovered my crock pot. You’ve all already heard about my husband’s favorite – the 10 minute slow cooker bbq pulled pork sandwiches. Which I did make. But I also was thrilled to pull out my mom’s famous crock pot roast recipe!
Ever since I was born people have been floored by mom’s famous crock pot roast recipe. Most didn’t believe it could be so easy or the ingredients could be so minimal when she told them. But it IS that easy. The best part is that anyone can make it. You don’t have to have any knowledge of cooking to be able to cook this dish.
Begin by coating the inside of the crock pot with cooking spray. This makes for easier cleanup!
Place the roast inside. If you have a smaller slow cooker you can halve the roast and freeze what you’re not currently using.
Coat it generously with McCormick’s meat tenderizer, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
Dump a large box of Swanson’s beef broth inside.
If you’re feeling a little extra you can toss in potatoes, carrots, etc. I just chose to make mashed potatoes on the side.
Cover and cook on HIGH all day long.
When you get home and you’re ready to eat you just have to do two things. First, remove the fatty side of the roast. Finally, shred it with two forks and ENJOY!
Who knew a mainstay could taste so good right?
What’s one of your favorite slow cooker recipes? One of my favorites is definitely this famous crock pot roast recipe!
