4 Meaningful Valentines Day Ideas When You’re Broke
We’ve all been there. It can be difficult to have new ideas to celebrate Valentine’s Day each year. Not to mention, expensive. While my husband and I do celebrate the day (usually the day before or after due to travel, work, etc), we definitely don’t treat it like Christmas or a birthday. Because really, showing each other love in little ways each day is the perfect way to do that. It could be making your spouse’s coffee in the morning, respecting their sleep schedule, etc. We all know that in a great relationship there’s a lot of give and take, compromising, love and respect. So for Valentine’s day we do make it meaningful – but it’s not overkill. Plus, who has hundreds of dollars to spend the day of? Not most people. Thats why today we’re sharing 4 meaningful Valentines Day ideas when you’re broke!
4 Meaningful Valentines Day Ideas When You’re Broke
1. Heart Attack on Mirror
I left this one in our guest bathroom so he can stumble upon it when he comes home for lunch! This is super quick to put together. Essentially you list all of the reasons you love your person on sticky notes and arrange them in the shape of a heart. It’s personal and you can probably find a stack of sticky notes somewhere in your house. If not, they’re super cheap to buy!
2. Romantic Balloons
This is one of my favorites. I bought balloons at the $ store (1 for each year we’ve been together), weighted them with a mini Hershey bar. This is always fun to come home to! I also put rose petals (another dollar store purchase) out with a cute sign I found at Hobby Lobby (from our wedding). On the bottom of each of the Hersheys you can leave a favorite memory you’ve had with one another. You can even incorporate photos hung on the bottom of the balloons string!
On a side note, if you love the minimalist modern wreath in the background, you can see how we made it for just a few bucks here!
3. Doughnut Valentine
Everybody loves doughnuts! You can serve your spouse breakfast in bed (on this dollar store silver platter) with a cute note to spare.
4. Date Jar
Make a date jar! Write a date on each one of the Popsicle sticks you want to go on with one another. You can color code them if you want to get fancy by budget and whether it’s a stay at home date night or not. Be realistic and intentional! This is where you can put all the ideas you’ve discussed over the months or years that you’ve dreamed of. Or even just add a little variety.
